My Background
Kathy Stearns is an Investment Advisory Representative of First Affirmative Financial Network. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ , a designation awarded after successful completion of the rigorous eduction, exam, experience and ethics requirements of the CFP Board, and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary. Kathy is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and adheres to the Fiduciary Oath.
Kathy is on both the national board and the investment committee of the Calvert Foundation. She is a former board member of the Social Investment Forum and in Boise, Sustainable Community Connections of Idaho.
Prior to becoming a financial planner Kathy spent more than 20 years working in the nonprofit sector to increase economic opportunities for disadvantaged populations. She was executive vice president and chief financial officer at Opportunity Finance Network. In her previous position at ACCION International, she helped establish a network of microfinance organizations in the United States, managed a microfinance organization in Costa Rica, and provided training and consulting services in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Kathy also worked as a consultant to the Ford Foundation and was a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic. She has an undergraduate degree from Duke University and a Masters Degree from Cornell University.
