My Background

Kathy Stearns is an Investment Advisory Representative of First Affirmative Financial Network. She is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary AIF® and a candidate for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. She successfully completed the Certified Financial Planner® Professional Education Program of the College for Financial Planning.  Kathy is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and adheres to the Fiduciary Oath.

Kathy StearnsKathy is on the board of the Social Investment Forum and serves on both the board and the investment committee of the Calvert Foundation.

Prior to becoming a financial planner Kathy spent more than 20 years working in the nonprofit sector to increase economic opportunities for disadvantaged populations. She was executive vice president and chief financial officer at Opportunity Finance Network. In her previous position at ACCION International, she helped establish a network of microfinance organizations in the United States, managed a microfinance organization in Costa Rica, and provided training and consulting services in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Kathy StearnsKathy also worked as a consultant to the Ford Foundation and was a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic. She has an undergraduate degree from Duke University and a Masters Degree from Cornell University.
